Universities Grading System

The University grading system is between the scale of 0-10 (0% – 100%) and the pass (module) is 5 (50%). The grading system of the Universities can be well described as:
  • Excellent (Ἀριστα) (8.50 to 10)
  • Very Good (λίαν καλώς) (6.50 to 8.50)
  • Good (καλώς) (5 to 6.49)
  • No awards after the completion of fourth or fifth year, unless and until they can complete all the syllabus from the previous years successfully.
  • Withdrawal
Grades are quite different for the National Technical University in Athens (polytehnio), they are:
  • Excellent : 9-10
  • Very good : 7-9
  • Good : 5-7
  • Fail : 0-4.9
Almost all the degrees that are offered are same as a BEng(Hons.) or BSc(Hons.) since the duration of these courses are around 4 - 5 years and are accredited professionally. Students should clear the module with 5.00 (50%) as a minimum grade in order to obtain a degree. Considering the overall credit-weighted average of all the syllabus that includes 'diplomatiki' (university/polytechnic) or 'ptichiaki' (TEI), ultimately the classification is made.
